The Server IP range assignments
Previous  Top  Next

This is where you define the routing information.

NOTES:
1.   When a Pigeon Client version 4 or higher is assigned a server, changing the value in the list will not automatically update the Client. For this client to connect to another Pigeon Server not only you will have to change the list here but will you need to stop the Pigeon Server. When a Client version 4 or higher tries to connect to a Pigeon Server which doesn't respond, the Client will request another Pigeon Server from the Pigeon Gateway.
2.   When a Pigeon Client version 3.x is assigned a server from this list, it cannot be changed. Pigeon Client version 3.x does not ask for a Pigeon Server. Be careful while assigning Pigeon Servers.

You edit and/or add information directly in the worksheet.

Pigeon Server: This is the name of the machine where a Pigeon Server has been installed. Pigeon Clients version 4 or higher will be routed to this server when they request for the information. Pigeon Clients version 3.x will be routed to this server only the first time they try to reach a Pigeon Server on this machine. If required, you may use the Pigeon Server's IP address instead of its name.

Port
: Specify the TCP port to be used by the Pigeon Client to connect to the according Pigeon Server. The Pigeon Server must be configured to use the same Port number.
This value is not used for
Pigeon Clients version 3.x because they always connect to port 3103.

NOTEs:
·If you use TCP port 3103 and the Pigeon Server resides on the same machine as the Pigeon Gateway and the Pigeon Gateway is configured to catch the Pigeon Client version 3.x, unpredictable results may occur. Avoid using this port number when you have Pigeon Clients version 3.x.
·If the same Pigeon Server is used on more than one line, make sure to use the same Port number on each line. A Pigeon Server can only listen on one TCP port.

From IP address: This is the starting IP address. Any Clients address included between and including the starting IP address and ending IP address will be assigned the corresponding Pigeon Server.

To IP address
: This is the ending IP address. Any Cliens address included between and including the starting IP address and ending IP address will be assigned the corresponding Pigeon Server.

NOTE:
The Client is assigned the first Pigeon Server that matches the IP address range.

Save to database: If a column's value has changed, the button Save to database will be enabled. If you click this button the data will be saved to the Pigeon Gateway database.

Discard changes
: If a column's value has changed, the button Discard changes will be enabled. If you click this button the original value will be restored.
