A system administrator must do the installation of the Pigeon Server. It is installed as a service configured to automatically start using the System Account. To proceed with the installation, execute Pigeon4Setup.exe and select Server from the list. Simply follow the instructions on the screen.
At the end of the installation, a group of icons named Pigeon Communication System will be created and will contain 2 icons: Pigeon Server Configuration and Pigeon Server Configuration Help.
The Pigeon Server will not start immediately. You will be able to configure some optional parameters before you put it into production
Pigeon Server under Windows 95/98/ME.
When installed on a workstation with Windows 95/98/ME, the Pigeon Server runs as a simulation service. As opposed to a real service, a user must be logged on the machine in order for the Pigeon Server to start. It will automatically start in the background and an icon will appear in the Windows status bar. Right-clicking the icon will open a window from where you can stop the program (if required). An icon named Pigeon Server service will also be added if you need to restart the Pigeon Server.
