Installation

In this chapter, we will plan the deployment of the Pigeon Communication System network. Although the steps are very simple, proper preparation could save you a lot of time and effort. You must decide on the operation mode you would like to use, on which machine the Pigeon Server(s) will be deployed and how you will organize your clients.

The setup program has been created in order to make the deployment of any module a snap. You can pre-configure various client options stored in separate configuration files (.INI), use a unique global configuration file for each client (CLIENT.INI) or no configuration file at all to configure all clients with the default values. This setup program is well suited for unattended and silent installations.

You must also decide on which machine the
Pigeon Server(s) will be installed. Because it is running as a service, it can be installed anywhere within your network. Application and file servers will be your best choice. After you decided on which machine the Pigeon Server(s) will be installed, you can add this information into the Pigeon Client's configuration file(s) that will be used when deploying the clients.
