Defining Client's policies
Previous  Top  Next

From the Pigeon Server Configuration tool, you can specify global policies that will be applied to every Pigeon Client (you can bypass these settings on a per user or machine basis from the Pigeon Admin tool).

There are 4 possible policies:
·Hide Tray Icon: When checked, the Pigeon Client icon will not be displayed on the workstation's tray panel. The user will not be able to access the Pigeon Client menu. In this case, the Pigeon Client will only display the messages.
·Deny Exit Program: When checked, the Exit menu item will not be displayed on the Client's menu.
·Deny Send Messages: When checked, the Send message menu item will not be displayed on the Client's menu.
·Password Protected Options: When checked, a password will be required by users to access their Client's option menu item. The password must be defined in the Password: box.

The Client update path represents the UNC path where an update copy of the Pigeon Client can be found. This path is sent to the client when it connects to the Pigeon Server and will be used by the Pigeon Client Starter/Updater module the next time the Pigeon Client starts. To prevent manually updating all your Pigeon Clients, the administrator may update a central location. The Clients will then compare themselves with this central client and update as necessary. If the path is not found or not valid, the Clients will use their already installed version.
